TOMATO BASIL PASTA

I get requests for this one ALL the time! Make sure you share to your timeline
~ONE POT TOMATO BASIL PASTA~
The great thing about this recipe is that you have only one pot and no extra mess. It uses just the right amount of moisture to make a perfect sauce without straining.
Ingredients
12 ounces pasta (Whole Wheat)
1 can (14.5ounces) diced tomatoes with liquid ( I used italian style)
1 large sweet onion, cut in julienne strips
4 cloves garlic, chopped ( I use about 1 tsp. garlic salt, instead)
*1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
2 teaspoons dried oregano leaves
2 large sprigs basil, chopped
4 1/2 cups water
2 T chicken base
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1lb. chicken or shrimp (optional)~I like the meatless very well
salt and pepper to taste
Parmesan cheese for garnish
Directions
Putt all the ingredients above into a pot leaving the oil for last spreading it evenly all over the top of the ingredients. Cover and bring to a boil ounce you have reached boiling point, turn it to a simmer. Simmer all the ingredients until nearly all water is evaporated stirring in all ingredients. Lastly you can add in the salt and pepper. (pepper flakes may be to spicy for some).
