
Reason 3:Lack of sleep affects hormones the control the appetite. Lack of sleep lowers the levels of ‘leptin’ – the hormone which suppresses hunger. On the other hand levels of ‘ghrelin’ are increased which stimulates appetite! This leads to cravings and overeating during the daytime.
Reason 4: Sleep provides rest and recovery to the body; absence of which causes our performance to drop leading to weakness, lethargy etc. This is the reason why most of the people skip their workouts and gain weight as a consequence.
In summary, getting enough sleep (minimum 7 hours per day) is important as it leads to happier you, improves your working capacity and stamina. When you sleep enough, you are less likely to crave for coffee, tea, sweets etc. and more likely to exercise regularly with the fullest vigor.
